Misty Emmons is a certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner who specializes in cardiac and peripheral vascular care. She is passionate about holistic patient care and treating the entire person, not just their disease processes.
After growing up in Grand Rapids, Misty earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Wayne State University. She then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing through Samford University, where she had her eyes set on continuing her education. Misty’s background in cardiovascular nursing and care of vascular, cardiac and thoracic surgery patients prepared her well as she pursued her master’s degree. She obtained her master’s nursing from South University.
For Misty, educating patients on their disease processes and improving their health are the most exciting parts of being a nurse practitioner. She enjoys being a part of the ACV Centers team because she has the opportunity to provide care to a very unique set of patients that require complex care, sharing, “the rewards of working through treatment and management are great.”
When not working with her patients, Misty enjoys singing and baking. She has three children with her husband, Aaron, who is also a nurse practitioner. As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors and gathering for family movie night. In addition to her daily healthcare routine, Misty is in charge of the medical response team at Rush Creek Bible Church, where her family attends.
